1)  In my point of view, women of Asia region, they have been portrayed in a way to show their beauty, self-esteem, power and competence through the fashion media based.

Even though now we have a more open minded world or we can also defined   Asian mind have been westernized in term of psychological.

But there are still have some countries their awareness of feminism are low, it might be due to the religion.

Due to their religion restriction, they might not be able to show their beauty by wearing sexy dresses but their self-improvement makes them survive in the fashion media.

They are able to portray the beauty and self-esteem of women through the photo and media. They fight for the feminism without forgetting their religion. From magazine, they send a strong and convinced message to the women of this religion that they can also show their beauty by wearing their traditional  cloths.

2)  The Asia’s Next Top Model is a reality television show of Top Model Franchise, in which a number of women compete for the title of Asia’s Next TOP Model and a chance to start their career in modeling industry.

How are women being represented in fashion-based media?

After discussing with lecturer, I am slightly more understanding of my topic that is Question 3.

1)Examine the role of women in local or regional fashion-based media?
2)How are women represented?
3)Do they relate to everyday ideas and attitudes of women?

Based on the research, what am I getting in local means Asia and my country Malaysia, the women are the ways they look like. Show in the below.

file://localhost/Users/systemmanager/Desktop/malaysia-truly-asia-girls11.jpg
However, from the fashion based-media which are advertisement , TV, fashion magazine and others. Most of the time, they are being presented in the images that i am showing below.

Fashion Magazine

The female magazine is presented that the role of women being portrayed in the fashion based media.
1) the women's body shape—skinny
2)the women's body language—sexy and hot
3)the women's facial expression and make up—Gaudy and allure

The gap between the women being portrayed out and the reality have much more differences because they are more towards to the western women look already.

Besides, from the cover of the magazine, we are getting to know that women are being more concern about the outer beauty such as the perfect body shape and skin. These are the reasons for the female magazine to highlight out by using sexy, beauty and skinny models to attract people to grab the magazine.

In addition, the copy writing also highlight the female body shape by using the words "The Big Shape-Up Shake Up! The contents of the magazine also highlight "The new skinny foods Rewealed" . These are the ways the women are being presented in local fashion-based media.

What is important in Fashion

http://gulnazahmad.hubpages.com/hub/Importance-of-Fashion

To the Society: Fashion is an identification of individuals, special groups and cultures. Fashion is important as a means of interpreting social attitudes and values in a particular period of time; fashion captured on camera can become a valuable social document. People belonging to different tribes, groups, cultures, regions and countries can be identified by the way they are dressed.
Ceremony or Ritual: May be the purpose of certain specialized forms of dress, reserved for certain occasions or people; such as wedding attire, or liturgical dress.
To the Individuals: To the individual woman, fashion may be a means of expressing a particular element of personality. Loud colours and glowing accessories may suit an extrovert personality. "I am HERE!" they may say. "Notice ME!" or "I am COOL!" But how to achieve that fashion? For some, it is important to follow a "trend" closely. This fashion trend may be set by glamorous fashion magazines or celebrities. Some may feel more comfortable following a trend set for them. Others may express their individuality by creating their own fashion. There are some who persist with a "grunge" look, when all other fashionable ladies are parading in high heels and ballooned short dresses. Some do not like fashion magazines dictating a particular current trend. Yet, in fact, in their quest for uniqueness, are adopting a "fashion" popular yesterday!
To Different Cultures: Some cultures have a particular fashion. Think of India and you think of saris. Many Western women love the exotic flow of the sari, and so may adopt it for a special occasion to be "essence of Indian"! Mexican and African cultures are well known for their bright display of colors. Again, some may adopt the Mexican or African "look"! Hawaiian shirt have lots of big flowers on a bright background.
Protection and Warmth: Though the basic purpose of dressing can be warmth and protection but fashion nevertheless has its roots in adornment, decoration and ornamentation. Protection and warmth is secondary to that.
Modesty: Modesty is a commonly cited purpose for dressing. The idea of modesty in different cultures is very different. While Muslims prefer to adopt modest fashion, people belonging to other religion may not find it very important but whether a person is Muslim, Christian or Hindu, every religion preaches modesty. As Mark Twain said “the finest clothing made is a person's skin, but, of course, society demands something more than this”.
Beauty/Seduction: Are also important purposes of dress. Most people want to look attractive, at least under certain circumstances. But what is considered beautiful is also subject to variation. Ideals of beauty also change over time within the same culture, as we will see. Fashion is most important in life because it beautifies our personality and pleasing appearance.
From Historical point of view: "To be fashionable" is a popular way of saying a particular person is following a dictated, current trend. However, the importance of fashion opens up a whole new perspective. It opens up a view of fashion moments over time; it opens up fashion in history. What was life like in the 1920's? Start with the fashion current at the time. Fashion is an important clue to people and peoples' lives in history.
As a Sign Language: Fashion is a sign language or way of communication. Through it one can express his or her emotions, feelings, thoughts, and over all personality. Our clothes tell a lot about us. Our clothes tell who we are in the society. It tells others what we want, what our talents, our needs, our personalities, our dispositions and our destinations. Without a doubt, clothing is the most prominent facade of our well being in the society. It can camouflage, it can cover-up and it can build as much as it can destroy our image. It can say for us, we're as good as you are, or we have the same interest or we're important or even the opposite, we're worthless. Clothing is silent but very powerful communicator.
We've all experienced better treatment when we look especially well and what it's like to be treated badly when we don't. We can get attention when we enter a room or attract people with the same interest. That is because people relate to the way we wear our clothing. Clothes are said to make "fashion statements."
For Emotional Stability: We are shaped and fashioned by what we love. The sense of being perfectly well-dressed gives a feeling of inward tranquility.
From Psychological Point of View: Different people have different perceptions about different colours, fabrics, and fashion. Fashion thus has a psychological impact on human beings. Those who are very well dressed are perceived as well groomed as compared to those who are wearing shabby clothes.
Physical and Physiological:  A dress or an accessory not only satisfies social and emotional needs but it is worn on body and it becomes part of our physical being. A part of this strangeness of dress is that it links the biological body to the social being, and public to private. ~Elizabeth Wilson
Employment: Fashion has become an industry and thousand of people are employed in this industry as researchers, marketers, developers, manufacturers, laborers, and many more.

Research Fashion

Fashion is a general term for a popular style or practice or trend, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories makeup, body piercing, or furniture.

Fashion also has been a common business in media and market field.
Media is medium to connect and link the people to the latest fashion of the local or international.
But why the fashion is importance, especially for women?

First off, fashion can make you more creative in your everyday life. Of course you’re wondering how fashion could possibly improve someone’s creativity. No matter what it is it's probably pretty creative and you most likely put some thought into it. No matter if you are trying to look likes the most popular kids in your school or if you are trying to look like your favourite celebrity. For example if someone was getting dressed and they decided to wear an outfit that they had never worn before and people complimented them on it they would be happy and self-confident. Once people understand that it is okay that your clothes look different from other people's and they start to enjoy looking different and/or having a "signature" style they will become a lot less stressed about how they look and won't feel as much pressure to look like everyone else. Of course it will also really give people a lot of self-confidence, which is always a good thing. For all of these reasons fashion can promote creativity in everyday life.

In addition, fashion is important in culture and religions. But when you take the time to look, fashion is everywhere in religions and cultures. For example, Muslim women cover their faces with head scarves. That could definitely be classified as a “fashion statement,” because it is taking the way that you dress and using it for a purpose. If people were to dress in clothes from their religion more often it could possibly create stronger faith in religion and less people feeling like it is odd to wear things like that. It would create stronger faiths because if people were to dress according to their religion it would be a daily reminder of their faith. And as you have probably noticed people tend to do what they see others doing. So this could catch on quite easily. If a bunch of their friends has some sort of religious clothing item and wore it then the kid would most likely think that if it were okay for his friend to be different than it is okay for him to be different as well. It could quite possibly make people more interested in other cultures. If someone saw an article of clothing that one person was wearing and thought that it was interesting than that person might want to do a bit of research on that culture and find out what it was for. When I say that it is important in culture I don’t just mean a culture from another country, but I also meant how society develops in the United States. Before women worked there weren’t many women’s dress suits. Most of the clothing for women has changed drastically because of the professions that some women choose nowadays. Most women’s clothing way back when was just fit for house work, grocery shopping, or taking care of kids. Now that some women work more clothes have changed to make them more professional looking and to make it easier for them to work in.

After analyse from the above article, i am conclude thatfashion can make you look and feel more professional. You will also feel better about yourself and feel like you are professional; therefore you will do better in your work.
If you are wearing something that makes you look more professional to a job interview they are more likely to take you seriously and consider you for the job. If people see you and think that you are professional, well kept, and put together than they are more likely to be nice to you.

Fashion of women

The importance of Womens fashion clothing.
People have converted their craze for style into a business enterprise featuring clothing and apparel according to the trends in the market. In another hand, the local fashion based media such as local fashion magazine, fashion tv show and etc , these are example of business enterprise featuring about the fashion in media market. Fashion in reality, is a like an addiction, women can go overboard with the latest styles in the market but a line must be drawn according to the need and dependence. The fashion industry thrives on its sales from this nature of women and utilise the profits for its success. Women’s fashion clothing has become one of the most prominent sectors in the business arena.

There are many reasons why people follow fashion.

First, they do so for attention, as a form of social communication through commodity signalling and demand for novelty.

Second, following fashion is a cognitive efficiency, a way to economize on choices that are difficult or expensive to reverse.

Third, it is fun, since being fashionable has its rewards when you get it right. Yet following fashion can still be messy and expensive, as fashion cycles cause the consumption abandonment of clothes, music, furnishings, appliances, cars, and so forth, long before those goods are physically worn out or fully depreciated.

Each fashion cycle begins with the origination of a novel, attention-arresting idea adopted by a network of individuals, which induces each to reorganize their own consumption systems.

In modern economics, the standard view is that fashion is irrational and inefficient. From a Schumpeterian or a Hayekian perspective, however, it seems to play a more positive role in stirring consumers to action that results in the growth of experience and knowledge.

Fashions consumer entrepreneurship, and has the same class of dynamic externalities as business entrepreneurship. Just as an increase in the strength of competition may prompt decision-makers to explore new ways of increasing productivity, so may a change in the relative competitive strength between status-conscious consumers force them to rethink their consumption choice.

The role of women from 1920s till 1930s

The role of women from 1920s till 1930s.

The role of women in fashion-based media was more conservative in 1930s than 1920s. One of the characteristics of women was being presented to a more feminine look such as women’s curves were being emphasized, skirts became longer, and clothes returned to being near the natural waistline and introduction of bra cup sizing.

Besides, women’s 1930s fashion was characteristically long and sleek. The flapper look of the ‘20s was now out, and a more sophisticated look–influenced by Hollywood movies–was in. More muted colors were popular, as were deep colors. Fabrics with prints in abstract or geometric patterns were also widely used.

As styles and colors were changing, the average woman’s tastes began to change too. Because the thirties was a decade where women began to have bigger roles in society, the way clothes were designed to fit was altered. In addition, the modern woman was no longer a simple, stay at home mom. Women now had more of a purpose; as a result, they had more places to go and more reasons to go out.
